Grinding paths

The grinding path sits close under the rotor and gives the feed a last crushing pass before it leaves the crusher. Its gap to the blow bars sets the product size, so even wear keeps the product in specification.

Works in
The grinding path beneath the rotor of impact crushers, which adds a final crushing stage.

How it fails and what we do about it

  1. 01Wear that opens the gap to the rotorGrade matched to the feed and to the blow bar alloy.
  2. 02Cracking from oversize or tramp metalA tougher grade where the feed is uncertain.
  3. 03Uneven wear across the widthSegments made to drawing so they can be changed one at a time.

Choosing the grade

Typical values from the governing standards. A metallurgist confirms the grade for your duty with every quotation.

Alternative

High-chromium white iron

Abrasive feed of controlled size, with no tramp metal.

ASTM A532 Class II and III · IS 4771 · ISO 21988 / EN 12513

Alternative

Austenitic manganese steel

Heavy impact from large or uncertain feed.

ASTM A128 · IS 276 · EN 10349

What we control

  • Grade set by the dutyFeed size, abrasiveness and the risk of tramp metal decide the alloy, not habit.
  • Fast quenchManganese parts go from furnace to water in about 45 seconds, so carbides stay in solution.
  • Tested every heatChemistry by spectrometer and hardness on every heat; tensile and impact tests as specified.
  • Fit where it mattersPin bores, seats and clamping faces machined to drawing.
