Grizzly bars

Grizzly bars let the fines bypass the crusher and carry the rock to it. They take impact from falling rock and abrasion from everything that slides across them.

Works in
Vibrating grizzly feeders and scalping screens ahead of primary crushers.
Industries
Mining, Aggregate, Cement
Materials
Manganese steel, Cr-Mo steel
Size
Single pieces from 3 kg to 7 tonnes, to drawing
Supplied
As cast, or machined to drawing
Inspection
Chemistry and hardness on every heat; UT, MPI or DPT and a dimensional report as specified
From a worn part
Yes. Send the part or photographs with key dimensions and we will reverse-engineer it

How it fails and what we do about it

  1. 01Wear and rounding of the top faceA harder grade where the impact allows it.
  2. 02Bending or breakage under falling rockA tough grade, with a section designed for the drop.
  3. 03Gaps opening between barsSpacing and fixing faces held to drawing.
02

Choosing the grade

Typical values from the governing standards. A metallurgist confirms the grade for your duty with every quotation.

Usual choice

Austenitic manganese steel

Heavy impact from large rock.

ASTM A128 · IS 276 · EN 10349

What we control

  • Grade set by the dutyFeed size, abrasiveness and the risk of tramp metal decide the alloy, not habit.
  • Fast quenchManganese parts go from furnace to water in about 45 seconds, so carbides stay in solution.
  • Tested every heatChemistry by spectrometer and hardness on every heat; tensile and impact tests as specified.
  • Fit where it mattersPin bores, seats and clamping faces machined to drawing.

For a quotation, send any of these

  • Equipment make and model, or the OEM part number
  • Drawing, or the worn part or photographs with key dimensions
  • The grade used today and the life it gives
  • Quantity per set and sets per year

No drawing? Send the worn part or photographs with key dimensions and we will reverse-engineer it.
